Sierra Leoneans mourn man who gave his life for Ebola orphans

AUGUSTINE BAKER

Sierra Leoneans are mourning one of their citizens who had been working relentlessly to help children orphaned by Ebola. Augustine Baker himself died of Ebola this week. He was diagnosed with Ebola and was admitted at one of the country’s ebola treatment centres in the capital of Freetown.

Mr. Baker was an employee of the  UK charity-run St George Foundation Orphanage . He is credited for scouring communities to find orphans whom he will then bring to the orphanage. Thirty-three children and seven staff of the  orphanage are on quarantine presently.

Many Sierra Leoneans were saddened by the news of Mr. Baker’s death .

Ebola has also killed nearly  a dozen doctors .
